I was saddened to learn of Norval's death. He and I worked together at Franklin School, where he was the custodian. He would often stop by my office and we would engage in long conversations. His sense of humour and his very contagious laugh was second to none.

It was obvious that Norval was so proud of all his family. Sometimes when speaking about one or two of them, his eyes would water. He loved them all and he was so proud of them.

I was amazed to see that he was 95 years old! Norval was in great shape, even before his hip replacement. He loved "The School" as Mr. Greenbank would refer to it and he loved being a member of the community. At Christmas time he would dress up as Santa and he would bound into the gym, picking up the teachers as he went, swinging them around and touching the heads of all the students. Norval will be missed for sure, but never forgotten. He enjoyed life to the fullest and in doing so, he infused a lot of joy in others.
