Nelson Weippert

Born:
April 10th, 1939
Died:
April 27th, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing on Saturday, April 27, 2019, of Nelson Arthur Weippert aged 80.
He died peacefully surrounded by his caring family. He leaves behind Sharon (nee Inkpen), his best friend and wife of 57 years. Loving father of Todd (Carol), Kim (Rita), and Chris (Jen), and proud grandfather to Tyler and Nicholas. Brother to Linda (Ross) and Diane. Predeceased by his sister, Joyce and brother, Edward. Nelson had a rich life, well lived.

Throughout his life Nelson strongly believed in volunteering and giving back to his community. For many years he filled pulpits in the Valley. Through his work as a lay Minister, and with his music and kind words, he touched the lives of many people. He will be missed by all.

One of his passions was raising money for the Canadian Food Grains Bank. If you wish, donations in his name can be made to:
Canadian Food Grains Bank (https://foodgrainsbank.ca), Box 767, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2L4.

The family wishes to thank the 3rd floor and ICU staff at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown Quebec for their caring support. Celebration of Life  at a later date.
His cat Licorice will miss him.

I am very sorry to learn of the passing of my cousin Nelson. For a number of years we had not been in touch but a few years ago my wife and I visited Nelson and Sharon. I was very happy to see him and Sharon and we enjoyed a very pleasant visit. Time has gone by so very quickly and I never really got to re-conect with Nelson as much as I would have liked. This has sadden me very much.

Nelson Weippert was one of those rare people who gave away far more than he asked for in return, a precious soul who shouldered out-sized spiritual burdens in order to lighten the load for others. His unexpected passing will leave widespread ripples of sorrow because he and Sharon touched the lives of so many in profound, meaningful, and often practical ways over decades. Nelson understand and represented the wider Christian community's needs and values. As a lay minister, he was diplomatic, comforting, and sensitive in organizing the logistics and tone of many worship services. His humility, faith, and actions were impressive. He was an exemplary human being who made the world a better place. My family and I extend our support and sympathies to those closest to him.

  • Lou and Denise Collins

    Dear Cousin Sharon,

Denise and I will always remember with fondness the visits we had with you and Nelson, both here in Sarnia and Wyoming (Ontario) as well as at your home. Nelson was always so gracious and kind and I will especially remember the classical guitar lesson he taught me. Our thoughts are with you Sharon and we offer our sincere sympathies to you and your family.
