1947-2024
Russell was born in Huntingdon, where he lived all his life and raised a family with his wife, Shelley, in the house they purchased next to his childhood home. Russell was a hard worker, never one to sit still. Even in retirement he was happiest tinkering on lawnmowers or working in the yard. He was an avid lover of golf, which he played throughout his life and watched religiously. In his youth, he loved motorcycles and cars, and was particularly fond of his Dodge Charger. A mechanic for most of his life, he became a caretaker in his later years for the local schoolboard, as well at St. Andrews Presbyterian church, where he also rang the bell for Sunday services. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shelley (née Herdman), and his two sons, Michael and Christopher, as well as his sisters, Jean, Shirley, Joanne, and brothers, Richard and Everett. He was predeceased by his brother Fred. In lieu of flowers, please honour Russell’s memory by donating to the Betty Riel Foundation CP 90034, Godmanchester J0S 1H0. A celebration of life will be held on September 14 th at the Huntingdon Legion:
