Gordon Grant

1927-2024

Gordon Thomas Grant, 97, of Huntingdon, Quebec, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024. Gordon was born on February 13, 1927, to Henry and Louise in Lennoxville, Quebec. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Jean Pryde; his son Robert (Isabelle Langevin); daughter Julie (Dennis Girard); grandsons Alex and Matthew; his sister Bernice (late Harry Hoy); as well as many close family members and friends. Gordon dedicated his career to Grant’s Bakery from 1940 to 2004, carrying on what his father began in the late 1920s. From delivering bread and sweet goods by horse and wagon to decorating cakes, he enjoyed serving the community. He was a skillful hockey and tennis player in his youth and avid downhill skier into his 80s. He cherished summers at the red cedar cottage he built in St. Anicet, surrounded by family, friends, and good food. He will be remembered for his humour, his many acts of kindness, generosity and his joyful spirit. Much love and thanks go out to the many who supported Gordie during the past few years, with special mention to the staff of the Residence Riviera, Barrie Memorial and the entire team from the local CLSC for their care. A service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, Huntingdon, Quebec, on Saturday, July 27 at 11 a.m.  Funeral Entrusted to Rodrigue Montpetit et Fils Inc. 170 Châteauguay St., Huntingdon, Quebec J0S 1H0, 450-264-5331 Online condolences and tributes may be made at www.rodriguemontpetitfils.com
