On September 20th 2023, Michelle passed away at the age of 30, following a four year valiant battle with stage 4 breast cancer; she fought until the very end. She passed peacefully while surrounded by her family. She fought until the very end. Michelle is survived by her husband Eric, son Sebastian, parents, Trish and Terry MacKay, sisters Carolyn (Amanda) and Allison (Graeme), and grandmother, Louise, as well as many extended family members and friends. She will be deeply missed by all. Michelle was born in New Westminster, BC and lived in Pitt Meadows during her formative years. Michelle was an avid Irish dancer, and a talented short track speed skater, and a hardworking and successful student. She particularly excelled in short track, and this brought her to Montreal, QC as a young adult, to train with the Canadian national team. It was while skating and working at Cineplex that she met her husband, Eric. Michelle and Eric married on June 9th 2018, and just over a year later Michelle gave birth to her beloved son Sebastian in Calgary, AB. A few short months ago, Michelle and Eric celebrated their five- year wedding anniversary while on an Alaskan cruise; the very same itinerary and ship from their honeymoon. Michelle was a loving wife, an amazing mother, and a caring friend. . She consistently put others before herself and never complained about a single thing. You could always find her with a smile on her face. Her strength and kindness were inspirational to so many. She was steadfast and abundant in the love she unconditionally gave to her family. The love that with which she enveloped Sebastian will be a legacy that will always be remembered. It was her mothering that helped mould Sebastian into the compassionate little man he is, as he rubbed mum’s back, brought her stuffies, and held her hand in her final days. Michelle, you will be missed more than words can express. Thank you for sharing your light with us. You will always live on in our hearts. You are so incredibly loved. This isn’t good- bye but a see you again. A Celebration of Life will be held at Huntingdon United Church in QC at 2PM on September 30th. A reception will follow.
